Gardeners – 9th October 2012

Second trip out with Nick; this time I took Harry along!

Things didn’t start well when Harry grabbed Nick’s favourite chicken by it’s arse. Lucky he dropped it pretty quickly.

Anyway, a quick drive around to Gardeners and we were soon walking along he sea wall to the BWA owned salt marsh. Nick showed me the crates sunk into the mud for crossing on to the strip near the caravan park which can only be shot from November. Then onto the main section of marsh, where Harry confirmed he was a Springer, by tearing around, down in the mud for 40 minutes.

After showing me around, Nick and Nell set up on the far bridge 80 yards from where Harry and I settled down by a creek. As the tide came in I chucked a few Deek’s out and we both sat quietly whilst the marsh gradually came alive. Three small groups of ducks flew within 100 yrds, but not close enough.

After getting home, quick shower for the lad.

Bag for the day (0 birds for 0 shots)
