26-03-2014 crop smallPhoned Tony Towns on Monday from work to see if there was a chance of some Pigeon shooting to find I caught him in the middle of drilling Barley. Although I wasn’t thinking of going out mid week, he was keen not to wait for the weekend, so I took Wednesday afternoon off work and I popped over there with the Harry all the kit.

Our Glorious Twelfth – 12th August 2012

I took Harry over to Begrums again with a few shell decoys.

A few dropped in and Harry performed his first ‘bona-fide’ unassisted retreaves; the second was a long way out and the bird was still hanging on when he delivered to hand.

Looking forward to the coming Season!

Ramsey Tyrrells – 7th August 2012

Popped over Ramsey Tyrrells for an hour or so Pigeon shooting after work. They were still cutting the Rape in the next field.

2 for 5 shots.

Begrums – 4th August 2012

Colin was ploughing whilst Paul and I wasted a couple of hours sitting on the staw bales.

0 for 0 says it all.

Begrums – 1 st August 2012

Took a wander over Begrums after work and bumped into Colin and Farm Hand cutting the stubbles.

‘Jump In’ he said; so I did.

6 for too many.

Wobbly Bottom Farm – 25th September 2010

Finally managed to meet up with ‘Bakerboy’ (Terry) from the Pigeon Watch Forum. He scared the living daylights out of Joseph and I when we pulled up at the farm gate and he was stood there, head to toe in camo.

After a few minutes safety chat and a little bit on Pigeon flight lines, he soon had us set-up in a pre-prepared hide. It wasn’t long before the odd Pigeon flew past and, lucky for me, I managed to get one reasonably quickly. With the pressure off I could relax and enjoy the rest of the day.

There was a light, but steady stream of birds passing over or by. Most I missed but I managed to hit enough to feel reasonably pleased with myself. It made my day when Joseph hit a Pigeon with the borrowed 12g semi-auto.

Took a few photos, and Terry suggested sending one in to BASC young shots for possible publication in their magazine.

Many thanks to Terry; Joseph and I had a great day.

Bag for the day

12 Woodpigeon (incl. 1 for Joe)
